We have teamed up with leading radio and music industry partners to deliver a series of curated music discovery features on the new Pure Connect app and website.

Pure Connect uniquely combines a comprehensive on-demand music service with a free radio service and control for Pure’s ground-breaking new Jongo multiroom music system. Users can access over 20,000 global radio stations, around 200,000 free on-demand programmes and podcasts, as well as over 15 million streamable music tracks via the Pure Music subscription service, our on-demand music service that costs just £4.99 per month.

Thanks to the launch of a series of curated features, users can now also enjoy content put together especially for Pure Connect by industry leading partners. Each feature contains additional content ranging from interviews to related artists, tracks and albums taking the user on a journey of discovery.

All this content and local music can be beautifully synchronised through the home with Pure Connect and the new Jongo multiroom music system.

Music fans can enjoy a 30 day free trial of Pure Music, Pure’s on demand music service with the app. Pure Connect offers an unparalleled combination of the best of radio and music in one place and takes the user on a journey of discovery with recommendations based on listening patterns and a selection of curated content from a range of trusted partners.

The Pure Jongo S3 portable, rechargeable wireless speaker (SRP £169.99) can be used on its own or grouped together with other Jongo speakers to deliver the most flexible and accessible multiroom audio system on the market today. Jongo products use Wi-Fi to stream perfectly synchronised audio within a single or multiroom environment, while Bluetooth allows users to stream content from any audio app on their smartphone or tablet, including locally stored music, to a single Jongo product. Last week we were asked along by the lovely Amy Cutmore, consumer Editor of Ideal Home Magazine and Girl About Tech blog, to demo the Jongo S3 during her talk in the B & Q theatre, at the Ideal Home Show. The scheduled talk on Tuesday and Thursday morning entiltled ‘Tech Trends 2013′ was a great insight into home gadgets of the not-so-distant future.

Amy talked about Smartphone apps that control your heating and household appliances whilst you’re away from your house, clever ovens and fridges to help plan our shopping and cooking dilemma’s and many more ingenious household products coming our way to make life all together more convenient.

We demonstrated the Bluetooth one-to-one feature of the Jongo S3 during Amy’s section on music streaming and were able to turn the volume up and to illustrate and scroll though the 4 audio modes which include 360 mono and stereo, front-firing stereo and bass boost for outdoor listening.

The Charles Parker Day 2013 took place on Friday 22 March at the University of Salford, MediaCity. The event celebrates young people and sport on radio and this year is the 50th anniversary of two of the famous Radio Ballads that Charles Parker made with Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger – ‘On The Edge’ (about teenagers) and ‘The Fight Game’ (about boxing).

The day included sessions on engaging young people in radio features – including the world première of ‘On The Edge Too?’ a 21st century remake of the original ballad commissioned from last year’s Charles Parker Prize winner and celebrated the work of student radio feature makers throughout the UK. Gold, Silver and Bronze Prizes were awarded to the winners with the best feature. Prizes included a SADiE editing suite for the Gold award and Pure donated special edition One Mini digital and FM radios with a union jack design for all three winners. Prizes were awarded as follows:Bronze: Joanne Fowler, for “Speaking Out”, Silver: Flora Neve, for a feature about silence and Gold: Hannah Walker Brown, for “Four Metal Plates”.

There was also a celebration of the Manchester Radio Features Unit – from Olive Shapley to the present day (with producers past and present) and a deconstruction (and ‘live’ recreation) of one of last year’s BBC Radio 2 Olympic Radio Ballads with producer John Leonard.
