‘Spring forward’ into summer with a Pure radio system

No sooner have we taken down the Christmas decorations and our thoughts are turning towards light summer evenings. British summertime begins on the last Sunday of March and that means the sun sets earlier and the evening walk home from school/work gets lighter too. In exchange for the extra sun we suffer the loss of one hour in bed on the night of  31st March. Zzzzzzzzzz.

But fear not, for an easy transition wake up to one of Pure’s easy-to-use radio systems. No need to sleepily re-set the time in the morning as the clock will automatically sync to GMT.

All of our radio sytems have at least two alarm settings and the Sensia 200D Connect comes with a countdown and sleep timer too.

As soon as you’re awake you have a cheerful colour touch screen to navigate your way through your favourite stations or stream your music from your iPod or android via the free Pure Connect app.

If you don’t need to jump out of bed straight away then make use of the handy remote to change modes.

The Twilight fully featured bedside digital radio could be the answer to everyones morning  nightmares. It combines an energy efficient lamp featuring flexible lighting options with a digital and FM radio alarm clock to deliver the ultimate bedside experience.

Twilight is also a fully featured digital and FM radio or you can plug in your iPod/MP3 player. You can set up to four alarms with optional dawn simulation, plug in USB accessories or charge your mobile using the handy PowerPort. Other features include a headphone socket, sleep timer, large autodimming LCD display, touch-sensitive controls and satin-touch finish.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas?

CES 2013 – the biggest consumer electronics show on the calendar in Las Vegas. It’s hard work but let us not forget how fun Las Vegas is. Here are a few snapshots from our recent trip to Paradise, Nevada where we showcased the new additions to our Jongo multiroom music system.

CES Unveiled might be the craziest press event but it has some fun elements (yes, really!). Colin Crawford, director of marketing, was interviewed for Dave Graveline’s Into Tomorrow radio show, we were all interviewed on camera and we also got to meet lots of US press and some familiar UK journalists.

Pure does CES Unveiled Noam Meppen, director of sales US, talks to journalists

Tuesday was the first day of the show and packed full of meetings with US journalists and UK press who we missed on Sunday at Unveiled. It was also the first time that Colin had been treated to a makeover for his interview with CNET on the Best of British panel!

We were really pleased with our stand at the Las Vegas convention centre and everyone was impressed by our Jongo wall. The colours of our Jongo products really drew people in and made for great video interviews for the likes of LAPTOP and CBS.

Pure announce Wildverse poetry competition winners

Pure is pleased to announce the winners of the RSPB’s 2012 Wildverse poetry competition for young people, in partnership with Fun Kids Radio.

The annual competition invited children and young people aged up to 19, to get creative and submit poems of any length on any aspect of nature and wildlife.

Head judge Julia Donaldson selected the winning entries which will be recorded by pupils of Burgoyne Middle School, Potton in Bedfordshire and broadcast on Fun Kids Radio between 21st and 24th December.

The overall winner from the under-8’s category was Nyle Evans, aged 7, from Shropshire with his poem “Swift”.  Julia gives the following reasons for picking Nyle’s poem: “I chose this poem as the winner because, although simple, it was so successful in linking the description of the migrating swift to the emotions of the girl and her family.  The poem was well shaped, with three verses in the same rhyme scheme, and had a real sense of direction.  In particular I thought the ending was strong: ‘I can’t wait till you’re back’.”

Imogen Cassels, 16, from Sheffield was selected as the winner of the eights and over category with her “Crow’s Sonnet”.  Julia says of Imogen’s entry: “An ambitious and successful sonnet about the love of one crow for another. The poet captures the clumsiness and comic characteristics of the birds as well as their beauty. There was some wonderful descriptive language in this poem ‘oily jewel’ and ‘ragged croaking’, which really brought the birds to life.”

Both overall winners will receive a Pure Sensia 200D Connect music streaming and radio system so they can listen to their poems on Fun Kids.

The runners up in the under eights category include “What’s in the wood” by Kit Sunderland and “Toad” by Hetty Life. In the over eights category, the runners up include “Evolution” by Oliver Knight, “The Food Chain” by Iona Henderson, “Autumn Owl” by Billy Life and “Nature Box” by Rebecca Elsworth. All runners up will receive a Pure One Flow portable music streaming and radio system.

To listen to the winning poems, please listen to Fun Kids Radio (online or through DAB Digital Radio in London and the South East) between the 21st and 24th December. See www.funkidslive.com

The audio files are also available to listen to on Pure Connect – Pure Connect is our online gateway to a world of live radio, on-demand content (podcasts, listen again programmes and ambient sounds) See http://connect.pure.com/p#!/uk/content/podcast/6565368-wildverse-poetry-competition-2012
